5 qualities of a great pole dancer

  1. Attention to detail: This is important when learning a pole move because there is so many small details that need to be broken down. Pin pointing a small detail can make it easier to get the move faster and safer.

  2. Time management: Yes time management. When you take your time in your routine and slow down. It can help your audience to engage with you. Rushing through moves can look sloppy and overtime your time management skills will improve. You want you use your time wisely and flow through your routine.

  3. High pain tolerance: This one sounds scary but the ugly side to pole is the bruises. A new move can sometimes mean a new bruise. Pole can be painful sometimes and you have to mentally push through to toughen your skin. A good example is a pole sit. Your first pole sit will be unbearable but after a few months you'll be sitting like a pro and it won't hurt anymore.

  4. Mentally Connected: You need to be able to connect the mind to the body. This is especially hard on the days that you don't feel like training. These are the days that you don't feel like going to class. Or pushing through your nemesis move.

  5. Self acceptance: Accepting your bodies limitations is the hardest part of pole dancing and it's important to be patient with yourself. Give yourself time to learn, heal and advance.
